When Linfox Property Group took over the operations of Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit in June 2004, it had ambitions of taking what was already one of the leading GP circuits in the world, and creating a facility full of diverse activities that would be unmatched anywhere around the globe. As part of these plans, Linfox sought to restructure several aspects of the regular circuit usage, and one of these areas was in the providing of motorcycle Ride Days.

In order to take the levels of service at Phillip Island Ride Days higher than had ever been delivered before in this country, a partner was sought to provide this new level of service. The choice was clear from the outset that the only provider capable of producing what the new owners had in mind was the California Superbike School. An agreement was reached late in 2004, allowing the two companies to work together in creating Phillip Island Ride Days as the leading racetrack experience not only in Australia, but in the world.
