Track time On every Phillip Island Ride Day each group is allocated 6 x 20 minute riding sessions. We start with the slowest of the four groups first at 9am, and each group has 20 minutes on and 60 minutes off (subject to delays). We do not stop for lunch, however a sit-down lunch is available at an additional cost ($18.50 per person) if pre-booked prior to the event. The Canteen will be open throughout the day for those not wanting to pre-purchase lunch and also for snacks.
Group sizes Each group has a maximum of 35 riders and each group is graded so that similar speeds and / or skill levels will generally share the track.
Grading of Groups White Group (slow) 2:10 and slower (or first time / slow track riders) Yellow Group (medium/slow) 2:00 – 2:10 (or lesser experienced / slower track riders) Green Group (medium/fast) 1:55 – 2:00 (more experienced track riders / faster road riders) Red Group (fast) 1:55 and faster (very experience track riders / racers)
If you believe you have been allocated to a group not suited to you, please inform our staff and we will do our best to change you into a group that is more suitable. Alternatively, if we observe that you are not suited to the group you are riding in, we may move you into another group at our discretion.
Note for racers NOTE – Although Phillip Island Ride Days are not intended to be a substitute 'practice day' for racers, race riders are welcome at any Phillip Island Ride Day. However, the same rules and regulations apply to every rider and every rider is expected to behave accordingly. Those racers seeking clarification regarding these rules and regulations should call our office on 1300 793 423 prior to booking.
The only exception to this is when 'Racer Only' sessions are run in the lead up to major events such as, World Superbikes, MotoGP, Australian Superbikes, Stars of Tomorrow. These special sessions will be advertised both on our website and in the popular motorcycling magazines.
What time to get to the track It is recommended that each rider arrive at the track at least one hour before their first session, or in time for the 8.45am compulsory rider briefing, whichever comes first. This would mean that White Group (slow) should arrive at 7.45am, Yellow Group (medium/slow) should arrive at 8am, Green Group (medium/fast) should arrive at 8.15am and the Red Group (fast) should arrive no later than 8.30am.
